DIY: Miniature Easel w/ recycled paper

Il mio ultimo mini-progetto è la "Veranda dell'Artista"... ho gia pronti i fondamentali (parquet, scaffali e tavolino), adesso devo preparare gli accessori... dopo il manichino da disegno, non poteva mancare il cavalletto da pittore!
My latest miniature project is an Artist Sunroom - all the basics are ready (parqueting, shelving units and table), and I'm now working on props: I've already made an artist mannequin, and of course a easel, too!


Come sempre per l'effetto "legno" ho usato cartoncino riciclato e gesso acrilico.
As usual, I achieved the wooden look by using recycled cardstock and acrylic gesso.


Il procedimento è sempre lo stesso: tante striscioline di cartoncino incollate una sull'altra fino ad ottenere il giusto spessore...
The method is always the same: I glued several layers of cardstock together until I reached the desired thickness.




La struttura di base è formata da tre striscie lunghe e due più corte, incollate insieme in questo modo...
The easel's main frame is made with 3 long strips and 2 short ones, assembled as pictured.



Questi invece sono gli elementi che compongono i "fermi" per la tela (ma come si chiamano??)
These elements are used for the... uh... canvas holder? How is it called?


Per incollare la "mensolina" ho usato del biadesivo spessorato.
I used foam tape to attach the canvas... shelf (???).


Per la gamba posteriore ho fatto una striscia lunga come le tre anteriori, e ho fatto un buco ad un'estremità per poterci infilare un perno..
The rear leg has the same size of the long slats on the easel's front. I pierced a hole at the top, where I'll put a pivot later.



Ho ritagliato due quadratini con il Cernit e li ho forati con un ago, poi li ho cotti..
I cut two polymer clay squares, punched a hole in each one with a needle, and finally baked them.



Per il "perno" ho usato uno spillo. Poi ho colorato il tutto con gesso e colori acrilici per l'effetto legno.
The pivot is made with a flat-head sewing pin. I finally painted everything with acrylic gesso and paints to mimic the wood texture.


Ho incollato i due quadrati di Cernit alla parte anteriore del cavalletto usando del biadesivo spessorato. In questo modo, la gamba si può aprire e chiudere!
I used foam tape to glue the polymer clay squares to the front of the easel. This will allow the rear leg to fold open or closed.



Infine ho usato spilli e minuteria metallica per le "viti".
Finally, I used flat-head sewing pins and jewelry findings to make the "screws".


Adesso torno a lavorare: devo preparare un po' di tele in miniatura!
Done! Now I just need to make miniature canvases
